Houston Petset Awards Record Level $300,000 In Grants To 68 Houston-Area Animal Welfare Organizations

Houston PetSet, a local nonprofit organization working to end Houston’s homeless animal crisis, recognized 68 Houston-area animal welfare organizations at its annual Gifting Event on Nov. 17, 2021, at Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. This year, a record-setting $300,000 in grant funds raised in September at Houston PetSet’s 2021 Fierce & Fabulous Soiree were distributed to these organizations that are on the ground working to help the homeless and abused animals of Houston and the surrounding communities.

“This is our most important event of the year because we recognize how critical it is to support the animal welfare nonprofits that are doing most of the work on behalf of Houston’s stray animal population. It is difficult to imagine what our city would look like without these groups,” said Tena Lundquist Faust, co-president of Houston PetSet. “The Gifting Event is not only about giving grants, but about honoring the nonprofits and tens of thousands of volunteers for doing what they do every day For the Animals.”

In 2020, approximately 205,500 people received services or were directly impacted by the organizations receiving grants and nearly 100,000 pets were directly impacted by the organizations receiving grants.

Houston PetSet also treated grant recipients attending the event to complimentary food and beverages in recognition of their dedication and hard work. The rescue organizations also won prizes generously donated by Houston PetSet supporters.

Free pet beds, toys and supplies were also available for attendees to help bring joy and comfort to the animals they serve.
