City Announces Hearings for Budget, Tax Rate

By George Slaughter

The Katy City Council Monday announced public hearings to consider and adopt its budget and proposed tax rate.

The hearings will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at City Hall, 901 Avenue C.

The council will consider a $34.4 million budget, which is posted on the city website. The budget is a $1.5 million increase from the current $33 million budget.

The proposed tax rate is $0.447168 per $100 property evaluation. The rate reflects no change from last year’s rate. If adopted by the council, it would mark the second time in the past five years that the city has kept property taxes the same and not reduced the rate.
