UPDATE | Tropical Storm Nicholas Power Outages and Damage Assessment

The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) remains at Level II-High Readiness and continues to monitor Tropical Storm Nicholas. Based on current forecasts from the National Weather Service, rain and wind will be leaving our area before the end of the day.

CenterPoint Energy crews and contractors are working hard to restore power. Residents are asked to call 713-207-2222 to report downed power lines. Due to smart meters, there is no need to report a power outage. Residents are urged to stay away from downed power lines as they can still be energized.

HCOHSEM encourages residents to exercise caution when operating generators during a power outage. Remember to keep your generators dry, outside of your home, and never overload your generator. Always refer to the manufacturer’s operating instructions when utilizing a generator.

Harris County will begin damage assessment as the weather improves today.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local media and other trusted sources of information for the latest information on this weather event.

HCOHSEM will provide updates via social media channels.
