Fort Bend County has honored three deputies for saving a teen from attempting suicide.
On July 7, deputies went to the La Centerra shopping center parking garage at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. They had reports of a female sitting on the top ledge. Upon arriving, they saw a teen girl sitting on the top with her legs facing out.
The first deputy on the scene began talking to the girl. Meanwhile, other deputies arrived and made their way to the top of the garage.
While the deputy on the ground spoke with the girl, other deputies snuck up behind her and pulled her from the ledge.
The deputies were honored Wednesday.
“These deputies’ actions were nothing less than heroic,” Fort Bend Precinct 3 Constable Chad Norvell said in a statement. “We have an excellent crisis intervention team here in Fort Bend County. If you or someone you know needs help, please reach out and let us help you.”
Three other individuals have attempted suicide over the last three years from this location. Two were successful. La Centerra management is exploring options to prevent future attempts to include installing restrictive barriers.
