Healthcare Access in 2021

The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce’s Healthcare Division will host an informative session titled “Healthcare Access in 2021” on Wednesday, June 9th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Patient access has greatly changed throughout the last year, and this discussion will feature two highly esteemed healthcare professionals, Dr. Nicholas Desai with Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital and Jana Eubank with Texas Association of Community Health Centers, who will update our community on these changes. The speakers will address the Role of Telemedicine and Interoperability, Physicians and Health Systems, and Access to Care while Addressing Health Disparities. This Zoom webinar will be moderated by Michael Dotson, FBCC Healthcare Division Chair, AccessHealth, and is generously sponsored by Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.

Dr. S. Nicholas Desai serves as Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. Dr. Desai has been a member of the Houston Methodist Sugar Land medical staff for over 13 years while also maintaining his clinical practice on campus and has held various leadership roles within the Houston Methodist system, including Chief Medical Information Officer. Dr. Desai is a board-certified podiatrist and was recently selected to the inaugural class of Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Innovators in US Healthcare. In addition to leading clinical implementations across the Houston Methodist system, he has a keen focus on clinical transformation, quality, efficiency, technology, innovation, consumer experience, physician advocacy, and financial stewardship.

Jana Eubank serves as the Executive Director of the Texas Association of Community Health Centers (TACHC) that works to support and represent the interests of Federally Qualified Health Centers and expand access to primary care services in underserved communities throughout in the state. Ms. Eubank has a demonstrated track record of commitment to underserved and marginalized communities with 30 years of experience working in the health care system through her work in health care policy, government relations, leadership development, strategic planning, fundraising, association management and grassroots advocacy in Texas and nationally. She earned her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of North Texas and a masters of public affairs degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin and is also an alumna of the University of California at Los Angeles/Johnson & Johnson Health Care Executive Program.
