Katy ISD Closes COVID-19 Testing Site and Continues Randall’s Pharmacy Vaccination Partnership

By George Slaughter

The Katy Independent School District said Thursday that it will close its COVID-10 and RediMD testing site as the pandemic focus turns from testing to vaccinations. However, it will maintain its COVID-19 Dashboard and Positive Self-Reporting options.

In a news release, the district said Friday would be the last day the testing site would be open. The district said over 27,520 rapid tests have been given to students, staff, and qualifying dependents.

The district said it has partnered with Randall’s Pharmacy to offer a district location for the organization to provide optional COVID-19 vaccination opportunities to eligible students, 12 years of age and older.

“Due to high demand, Randall’s Pharmacy has made three opportunities available to parents interested in having their children vaccinated against COVID-19,” Lance Nauman, Katy ISD Risk Management Department director, said. “The vaccination is available free of charge and is being administered at Katy ISD’s Agricultural Science Center located at 5801 Katy Hockley Cut-Off Road.”

A valid student ID and a completed parent consent form must be presented. To schedule an appointment and to access the consent form, visit the website.

Here is the Randall’s Pharmacy COVID-19 optional vaccination schedule:

First Dose Second Dose
Wednesday, May 19 Wednesday, June 8
Wednesday, May 26 Thursday, June 17
Wednesday, June 2 Wednesday, June 23

Katy ISD students are not required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to participate in district activities or programs. For more information about the optional COVID-19 vaccination offered by Randall’s Pharmacy, e-mail covid19responses@katyisd.org.
