Sen. Cruz: President Biden’s Supreme Court Commission Merely Cover for Desire to Decree Policy Outcomes

Senator Ted Cruz

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today issued the following statement after the first meeting of President Biden’s Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States:

“Pursuing the most radical agenda in United States history, it isn’t surprising that President Biden is in need of political cover in an effort to pack the Supreme Court by adding several activist judges who will decree the radical policy outcomes he needs. I urge Commission members to stand up and defend the independence of the Supreme Court and prevent the court from being used as a partisan weapon. Now more than ever Congress should pass my “Keep Nine” Constitutional Amendment to prevent our fundamental liberties from being erased from the Bill of Rights.”

In February, Sen. Cruz introduced the “Keep Nine” constitutional amendment to prevent the expansion or contraction of the Supreme Court, and a second legislative proposal that would stop Democrats from unilaterally passing any Court-packing legislation in the United States Senate. Sen. Cruz previously introduced these proposals in October 2020.
