Auction buyers placed bids for their favorite pieces of art at the 2021 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Auction, held today, Sunday, May 16 as a private event at NRG Center.
Jaydan Kisinger, from Fort Bend ISD, sold her painting, “Through the Years,” for $155,000 to Ashton and Dallas Garrison, Randa and Ray Gilliam, Mary and Ken Hucherson, and Julie and Alan Kent. The senior’s painting was named the 2021 School Art Grand Champion in April.
“It’s unbelievable, to support the youth of Texas this way, but it’s really about her going to college, to any type of school she prefers, that’s what this Rodeo is about,” said Alan Kent.
The Reserve Grand Champion artwork, “United Ambition,” was created by sophomore Justin Amomoy, from Stafford MSD. The mixed medium piece was sold for $120,000 to Cheryl and Gary Deitcher, The 3 Amigas, and Sheri and Rob Walker.

3,244 pieces of artwork were submitted for the 2021 School Art Contest, representing 95 public school districts and 38 private schools. Judges selected 712 pieces of artwork to advance to the next round of judging, and 72 students were selected for this year’s School Art Auction.
