Artificial Intelligence Series, Part 2. Applications of AI

The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce’s Fort Bend Future Initiative will host Part 2 of a 3-part educational series on Artificial Intelligence (AI) via a Zoom webinar titled, “Artificial Intelligence Series, Part 2. Applications of AI” on Wednesday, May 12th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. This panel discussion will feature seasoned experts who are utilizing AI in day-to-day business operations, and will be moderated by Chairman of the Fort Bend Future initiative, Mike Dobert. The AI Series is presented by our Series Sponsors, Houston Community College, HCSS and Page.

AI is growing increasingly important to businesses as it impacts so many different industries. In order for business owners to maintain an advantage, it is important to understand how AI can impact markets. Our expert panel of AI professionals will explain how they use AI in their business and talk about how it can apply to different industries and provide solutions and opportunities for growth. Mike Belcher began his career at HP in 2007 as the Americas Education Solutions Manager and has been HP’s Director of EdTech Innovation since 2015. Mike has dedicated his career to helping schools leverage technology and innovative instructional strategies to revolutionize their teaching and learning strategies and help move from Teacher-centric to Student-centered learning. During the pandemic Mike spearheaded programs like HP’s Learn from Home with resources to help with the challenging tasks of Virtual and Hybrid teaching and learning.

Dr. Reid Smith is the Co-Founder and CEO of i2k Connect. Before i2K, Reid was VP of Research and Knowledge Management at Schlumberger, Enterprise Content Management Director at Marathon Oil, and Senior Vice President for Information Solutions at Medstory, a vertical search company purchased by Microsoft. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Aruna Viswanathan is the Chief Operating Officer of AlphaX Decision Sciences, a provider of AI software and cloud infrastructure solutions to the energy industry and a board member of ITAC. Prior to AlphaX, she was COO of The RBR Group, and former Director of Operations for the Houston Technology Center. Aruna was appointed by Governor Rick Perry, to the Texas Emerging Technology Fund Committee and is a past Director for the Houston Angel Network, and a current board member of and past-President of the Houston Chapter of TiE. She is the 2018 recipient of the Indo American Chamber of Commerce “Women in Business Award” in Houston and was the recipient of the 2011 Houston Business Journal’s 40 under 40 awards and the 2003 Women in Technology award from the Association of Women in Computing.
