Sienna Women’s League Presents Grants to Fort Bend County Charities

Sienna Women’s League (SWL) presented three grants totaling $30,000 to three Fort Bend County non-profit organizations on Thursday, February 11 at Club Sienna in Sienna. SWL also recognized its corporate and individual sponsors.

SWL’s planned fundraising event – High Hats, High Heels & High Tea – Journey to the Kentucky Derby – was to benefit SWL’s three focus charities – Hope For Three Autism Advocates, Houston Methodist Sugar Land Cancer Survivorship Center and Shared Dreams, part of FBISD Collaborative Communities program. Due to the Covid pandemic, the High Tea had to be cancelled.

“Though Covid-19 caused us to cancel our event, we took a cue from our charities that have upped their service and worked tirelessly to meet ever-expanding community needs,” SWL president Julie Platek said. “Our members decided to not let the pandemic dampen our spirits. With the help of our co-chairs, Jenni Leonetti and Julie Moise; our amazing High Tea sponsors, and a successful online auction, we were able to safely raise funds to provide grants.”

Darla Farmer, CEO of Hope For Three; Amy Sebastian-Deutsch, DNP, Houston Methodist Sugar Land Director of Oncology and Infusion Services and director of the Cancer Survivorship Center, and Bobbie Anderson, Community Engagement Liaison, and Payal Pandit Talati, Executive Director, FBISD Collaborative Communities, accepted the grants.

Houston Methodist Primary Care Group provided the title sponsorship of the High Tea fundraising. Corporate, business and individual financial sponsors also included: Sienna at Six Veterinary Hospital, Tammy and Brad Breau, Mercedes-Benz Houston Greenway, Sienna by Johnson Development, AmCap Home Loans, Select Title, Fidelity National Title, Von Boeckmann, DDS, Texas Gun Club and Kristin Tassin, LeAnn and Mitch Fane, The Muller Law Group, Richard Patton II – Edward Jones, and Christian Brothers Automotive – Missouri City.

SWL’s membership is comprised of a diverse group of women from the Missouri City, Sienna, Riverstone and surrounding areas dedicated to supporting the community through voluntary service and support while building bonds of friendship. SWL is noncommercial, nonsectarian and nonpartisan. Call 713.306.0330 for more information.
