Jonathan Lok

Bayou Land Conservancy (BLC), a local land trust focused on conserving land and protecting Houston’s primary water source, Lake Houston, announced that Jonathan Lok has been elected Board Chair and new members have been added as directors.

Mr. Lok is a professional engineer and a respected community volunteer. Says Mr. Lok, “I am honored to be Bayou Land Conservancy’s new board chair and look forward to working with our dedicated staff and fellow board members on advancing our mission. Bayou Land Conservancy’s work is vital for the Houston region’s ability to thrive. As we preserve the green space along our waterways to help mitigate the effects of extreme flooding events, we are also ensuring future generations access to nature and wild spaces. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of safe, outdoor places to our well-being as we saw unprecedented use of our trails and public lands in 2020. I am committed to making our work welcoming and accessible to all identities by elevating indigenous perspectives and strategically building relationships with diverse communities and organizations.”

In addition to Mr. Lok, two new directors were added to the board. Mary Bauer, Director at PwC; and Brian Steelman, Commercial Portfolio Manager for ExxonMobil Environmental Services Company were appointed to serve 3-year terms of office. Two directors, Bill Bass and Dr. Matthew Berg, were appointed to serve second 3-year terms.
