This is the 15th anniversary of the Pedaling the Prairie ride. This is a BP MS150 Recommended Ride, taking place Saturday, February 27, 2021. It begins at the Waller County Fairgrounds (22000 Fairground Road in Hempstead) and cruises past the rice fields and prairie between Bellville and Katy.  Riders can choose between several well-planned routes, from a 24-mile beginner course to a 71-mile endurance ride.  Breakfast and registration open at 7 a.m., with a rolling start beginning at 8 a.m.  The post-race party begins at 11 a.m., and the course closes at 3:30 p.m.  The ride goes on rain or shine!

More than 1,800 riders are expected to participate in the ride, which benefits the Eagle Initiative and Faith West Academy’s athletic department. Each year, Pedaling the Prairie remains one of the most successful and premier training rides.  There is special attention to detail for rider comfort and safety with breakpoints located every 10-15 miles along the racecourse, and police escorts will be at major intersections. SAG vehicles and Ride Marshall Support will be provided.  Pedaling the Prairie is fully committed to delivering a safe and enjoyable ride and will be implementing a wide array of comprehensive measures to address COVID-19.

Current sponsors are Keystone Structural Concrete LLC.  Also sponsoring the event are The Athlete Stop, Chamois Butt’r, Community Coffee, RoadID, GU, Bike Barn, Sprouts, Memorial Herman, Alpha Graphics-Katy and The Pickle Juice Company.
