The Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation (IMPACT) Act of 2014 modified the Social Security Act requiring that Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) be required to submit data for public reporting. In response, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) established the SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) and authorized the Secretary to report quality measures that relate to care provided by SNFs on a CMS website.
OakBend Medical Center’s Skilled Nursing Facility has received a Four-Star quality rating from CMS. CMS uses a five-star quality rating system to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing facilities more easily and to help identify areas about which you may want to ask questions and measures the experiences Medicare beneficiaries have with their health care. Nursing facilities are rated on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest. A facility with a four-star rating is above average, according to CMS.
A facilities star rating is calculated in part by information provided to the state via Minimum Data Set assessments and Health Inspections.
Since November 2019, OakBend Skilled Nursing has advanced from a two-star facility to a four-star facility. This improvement is a result of hard work and dedication from OakBend’s entire Skilled Team. MDS assessments are accurate and completed timely. There has been a dramatic decrease in resident falls and no facility acquired pressure areas. The facility has not received any complaints to the state from residents or family members. This achievement means OakBend Skilled Nursing provides the quality of care that all residents deserve.
