Libraries Present Introductory Music Tutorials Online

Fort Bend County Libraries (FBCL) will present two online music tutorials in January for individuals who would like basic introductory instruction.

Because of social-distancing recommendations, these virtual activities can be viewed online from the comfort and safety of home at any time.

These demonstration videos can be viewed by selecting “Virtual Programs” on the “Classes and Events” tab on the Fort Bend County Libraries website – – and finding the programs on the dates listed. The January schedule is as follows:

  • “How Do Musical Instruments Work?” – Wednesday, January 27 (pre-recorded video)

Learn about the mechanics of how musical instruments work. Get step-by-step tips for instruments such as the violin, the trombone, the piano, and more.

  • “Intro to Guitar: Minor Barre Chords” – Friday, January 29 (pre-recorded video)

This tutorial is part of the “Intro to Guitar” series on FBCL’s YouTube channel. In this session, beginning guitarists can learn how to expand their repertoire by using minor barre chords.

These online tutorials are free and open to the public. For more information, call the library system’s Communications Office (281-633-4734).
