U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement on the passing of Sheldon Adelson:
“Heidi and I send our heartfelt condolences to the Adelson family. Sheldon lived a remarkable life. With his humble beginnings as the son of an immigrant cab driver, he achieved the American dream as a successful businessman, generous philanthropist, and pillar in his community. From advancing medical research, to championing the U.S.-Israel relationship, Sheldon was a patriot whose fierce advocacy will be sorely missed. He was a friend, and a tenacious fighter who relentlessly defended the principles in which he believed. The world is much better because of his faithfulness. Our prayers are with his beloved wife Miriam, their children, and grandchildren as they mourn their loss.”
