After Five Years in LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, Dish Society Is Expanding Its Footprint
To help meet the demand of Dish Society’s Katy customers, Founder and CEO Aaron Lyons is transitioning the brand’s second oldest restaurant to a new space less than 500 feet away with twice the indoor seating capacity. By February 2021, staff of the all-day farm-to-table diner will welcome guests to a shiny new restaurant inside LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, just a two-minute stroll south of the existing Dish Society, at 2643 Commercial Center Blvd, Ste. B350, formerly occupied by The Blue Fish. With substantially more square footage, a primo location on the shopping mall’s prominent green and the opportunity to start fresh with décor that aligns with Dish Society’s most recent restaurant build-outs, Lyons looks forward to serving the Katy community in a manner that better represents his company’s vision and culture.
“We love the Katy area,” says Lyons. “Sales during the pandemic have been strong, LaCenterra’s bringing in many new like-minded tenants, and the space is great. When the opportunity presented itself, the decision to make the move was a no-brainer.”
Updates to the new locale will largely be cosmetic, promising that Dish Society’s Katy 2.0 location will be quite the looker. “We’ll add a fresh coat of paint, new tile and new furnishings, along with finishes and design elements borrowed from the buildout of our Southside Commons location,” says Lyons, referring to Dish Society #6, which will open in mid-December 2020 in the West University/City of Southside/Bellaire area.
Expanding from 2600-sq.ft. to 4100-sq.ft. means the Katy restaurant will increase its indoor capacity to 100, allowing staff to welcome more patrons inside while continuing to adhere to current social distance standards. Another upgrade to the space is the 20-seat, full-service bar, which serves as a focal point similar to that of Dish Society’s Heights location. The 60-seat, partially covered patio looks out onto Central Park Green, perfect for parents to kick back as they keep an eye on their kids playing on the turf. In line with other Dish Society locations, the patio will be outfitted with space heaters and likely flatscreen TVs.
The kitchen also boasts a larger footprint, allowing staff to benefit from better workflow. Service and hours will remain the same, offering counter service for breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch and table service during social hour and dinner. The menu will carry the brand’s signature selection of locally sourced, scratch-made Southern-inspired dishes, including crowd favorites such as the Houston hot chicken sandwich, brisket-stuffed sweet potato, pork belly hash, plenty of fresh salads and the beloved farmers plate, which allows diners to build their perfect meal.
Two dedicated parking spaces will be available for contactless curbside pickup managed by one of Dish Society’s staff stationed to welcome guests and process to-go orders. Additional parking is available within the outdoor shopping mall’s two parking garages and street parking throughout the center.
“Ultimately, a more spacious restaurant is much easier to navigate,” says Lyons. “I think this move will open the door to more frequent visits from existing customers as well as broaden our customer base.” The current location will remain open while construction is underway on its new location.
