Harmony Public Schools has launched an Esports program to keep students actively engaged and involved in extracurricular activities during the COVID pandemic. Maintaining safe social distancing activities that will enrich the lives of our students is a top priority for Harmony Public Schools.

Esports are competitive online multiplayer games where students can engage in social and emotional learning and acquire 21st century skills. The students in the Esports programs are using video games and game development as a way to boost their knowledge of STEM and develop their teamwork skills. In addition, Esports can help students develop a sense of community and collaboration during these times. Students who participate in Esports clubs and classes experience a variety of academic and social benefits, including averaging a 28% increase in GPA and a 95% improvement to attendance.

Over 200 universities are now offering a combined $15 million in scholarships and various academic pathways for online competitive gaming – Esports. Because of high student interest and academic opportunities, Harmony Public Schools is now offering Esports Clubs and tournament teams where students will compete against other high schools for scholarship money and exposure to college recruiters.
