The Katy News
A Community-Driven Katy, Texas News Organization
Locally owned and independently operated—serving the community since 1989.
The Katy News is more than a newspaper. Our goal is to
become part of the Katy lifestyle—a trusted, community-driven source that
helps residents stay informed, discover opportunities, support local
businesses and participate in the community around them.
Our Story
The Katy News has served Katy and surrounding communities since 1989.
Today, under the local leadership of Sheryl and Dwight Birch, we are
continuing that legacy while transforming The Katy News into a modern
digital news, lifestyle and community-information platform.
We believe local news should do more than report what happened. It should
explain why an issue matters, connect residents with helpful resources,
celebrate community achievements and create meaningful opportunities for
people and businesses throughout Greater Katy.
How does this benefit the community?
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide Katy families, businesses, schools and
organizations with accurate, timely and community-centered information
that strengthens, supports and connects our growing community.
We want The Katy News to reflect the full Katy lifestyle—from breaking news
and public safety to local businesses, schools, entertainment, restaurants,
family activities, community events and the people whose work makes Katy a
better place to live.
Supporting Personal Freedom
The Katy News supports personal freedom, independent thinking,
entrepreneurship and the ability of people to make informed decisions
about their families, businesses and communities.
We believe people should be free to express their views, pursue
opportunities, build businesses and participate in open, respectful
community discussions. Personal freedom also carries responsibility—the
responsibility to respect facts, value our neighbors and recognize the
rights and dignity of others.
Our role is not to tell readers what to think. Our responsibility is to
provide useful information, meaningful perspectives and a place where
community voices can be heard.
