Houston Grand Opera to Open Wagner’s Parsifal on January 19, 2024

Company presents Holy Grail story for the first time since 1992

WHAT: On January 19, 2024, Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will open Parsifal, Wagner’s final masterpiece, in a stunning, colorful production directed by John Caird, with HGO Principal Guest Conductor Eun Sun Kim at the podium.

The opera runs four hours and 45 minutes, including two intermissions. It is sung in German with projected English translation.

WHO: The production will feature a cast of extraordinary Wagnerians including tenor Russell Thomas as Parsifal, soprano Elena Pankratova as Kundry, bass Kwangchul Youn as Gurnemanz, and bass-baritone Ryan McKinny as Amfortas.
