Potential gamblers in Texas are continuing to use real money online gambling sites, but finding that sure-fire bet to place your wager on is where the real skill is. We’ve looked at some of these sites and the current state of the Houston Texans to see if they really have a chance of winning the Super Bowl this year. Can they do it? Probably not, but there is a reason for hope going into the new season.
Prior woes
The newest franchise in the NFL, the Houston Texans have been a part of the football landscape since 2002. Since they’ve struggled to keep pace in the AFC South, to becoming the best in the division, and now the worst again. In the last three seasons, they’ve not qualified for the postseason, notably finishing with a 3-13-1 record in 2022.
The elephant in the room, or the elephant in Texas is that the Houston Texans are not the Dallas Cowboys. Despite winning the first-ever meeting between the franchises in 2002, they can’t compete with the countrywide popularity of the Cowboys. For context, Dallas is regularly ranked as the most popular NFL team while Houston Texans struggle to make the top 20 of the same metric.
Why 2023 could be different
After a dire showing last year, there’s no wonder that there are drastic changes in management and tactics at NRG Stadium.
DeMeco Ryans was part of the impressive San Francisco 49ers team progressing within the coaching roles before accepting the post as head coach with the Houston Texans. The assistant coach of the 2022 award winner will be expected to bring the same experience and vigor to a rebuilding Texans franchise.
Will Anderson Jr. comes in after a lot of popularity and revelry from his college career with Alabama. Texans fan sites are already speculating that he will be able to make a difference in the way the team defends.
Another member of the incoming personnel is CJ Stroud. Yet the fanfare of his arrival as the overall number two pick in the draft was dampened by the reports that he’s struggled in cognitive performance tests, may have behavioral issues, and might not even get the starting quarterback job.
Why the Super Bowl might be out of reach
Touching on CJ Stroud again, if he doesn’t get the starting QB role, then it goes to…Davis Mills. The man from Atlanta, Georgia hasn’t had the most successful career since joining the franchise and the fans are less enamored to see him play again.
There are also concerns that the roster lacks any real wide receiver of quality. Brandon Cooks left the building for the Dallas Cowboys of all franchises making this gaping void in the team. Until the recruitment team signs up a WR, the plays might not succinctly connect. A fitting microcosm of what the season could be as a whole.
While the AFC South isn’t the strongest division by any standard, the rise of the Jacksonville Jaguars doesn’t help the Texans much.
This is reflected in the team’s schedule strength. While the NFL supercomputers anticipate the Texans to have the seventh easiest schedule, they’re still only expected to win six games all season. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why these real money online gambling sites for US players don’t think it’s going to happen, but you’ll certainly find high odds if you think they can pull it off.
