“That could have been Me”

As Founder and CEO, I consider a blessing that you are perusing Texas Veterans Food Bank Foundation website.  I consider it a blessing that this website has been constructed for your review by my nephew.  I am an Army Vietnam era Veteran, and this project is a dream of mine that brings me great enthusiasm and joy, “Veterans “is a word of reverence to me and should be revered by all.

Yet, a “veteran” is non selfish, loyal, and dedicated to a cause.  A Veteran does not see another “veteran” as different in any retrospect of religion, color, or politics.  For those who served this great country learned we needed each other to survive.  This need still applies.  There are not many who understand the needs and conditions that were placed on a soldier, especially during war time.  For those of us who survived, the word “Veteran” is very complicated to the community (i.e.) PTSD and Suicide. They see us as going to war but do not understand the sacrifices we still endure upon return.

There is still that need to protect and serve each other in a time of need.  Some of us left the military transitioning to a better life and others were not as fortunate.  Today has left many of our veteran friends, family, and acquaintances in despair.  Hunger now identified as insecurity has not smiled on many veterans.  Who is “Texas Veterans Food Bank”?  We are veterans who stand for our fellow veterans who are supporting our fellow veterans who have challenges with “Hunger” Please peruse this website and educate yourself as to the growing need of Veterans who have insecurities.  Texas is one of the top states on the list, yet we are the 2nd largest veteran populated state per capita.   We are seeking donations of can goods, flour, sugar, breads, pasta, cereal, deserts, chips pretzels, etc.  All we ask is that you please check your pantry and every veteran and community individual donate 1 item from their pantry, we can work towards any veteran surviving hunger and God will supply our needs.

God Bless
