Texas-based hot chicken hotspot now has 7 locations, including 4 in Greater Houston
Making its mark on the Houston hot chicken scene, The Cookshack has opened its sixth location in Spring (21640 Kuykendahl Rd.) and seventh location in Katy (223 Mason Rd.). After 2021 openings in Washington Heights and Webster, The Cookshack now has four Houston-area locations, with more coming soon.
Named one of the “Top 100 Restaurants in Texas” by Yelp, The Cookshack is known for its hot chicken, available in five different levels of heat varying from “Not Hot” to “AMF” (Adios My Friend). In addition to its signature chicken sandwich, the Texas-exclusive establishment takes pride in the size of its chicken tenders, which are nearly double the size of their competitors’ tenders.
“Spring and Katy are both growing so fast and the people in both cities are fantastic,” The Cookshack co-founder and CEO Mark Rogers said. “As we were looking for where to go next, we said, ‘Let’s try to get The Cookshack in both areas.’ The communities are extraordinary.”
Rogers, a Texas native, first opened The Cookshack in 2019 in Fort Worth after more than a year perfecting recipes and flavors with chef Stephen Payne. A former Baylor baseball player and CBS-KTVT sports anchor, Rogers has been in the restaurant business for 15 years and is no stranger to the industry – as his father, Doug Rogers, co-founded Cheddar’s Casual Cafe in 1979. After becoming intrigued with the hot chicken movement in 2017, he decided to open an eatery of his own.
The Cookshack’s new locations offer the same menu as existing locations, with Chicken Tenders, Chicken Sandwich, Chicken and Waffles, House Smoked Ribs, Hot Chicken Tacos, The Shack Salad, Chicken Kale Salad, Tender Salad, a slew of savory sides and more. Guests also can enjoy margaritas, including the signature Boujee Margarita, beer, wine and Family Shack Packs to-go.
The Cookshack is open Monday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
