Is Bitcoin Legit or not?

Bitcoin, a digital currency that started back in 2009, has really grown over the years. The cryptographic payment system stemmed from the idea to have a decentralized currency that was not under the control of anyone, person, or country. Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer currency which means it doesn’t go through any central authority and transactions take place from user to user directly. Open-Source Software

Bitcoin takes the form of open-source software, which basically means it’s free for anyone who wants to use it to make payments online. Bitcoin uses public-key cryptography, an encryption method involving two mathematically linked keys (one public and one private) through an elaborate mathematical algorithm to create secure transactions with Bitcoin’s digital wallets. As technology evolves so does Bitcoin so even newer Bitcoin 2.0 currencies like BitcoinX and BitcoinZ have been introduced to the Bitcoin community. Bitcoin is even being used for remittances, capital flight, and international money transfers.

Popularity of  Bitcoin

Bitcoin is quickly becoming a common currency in the digital world with multiple websites accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment like WordPress, Reddit, and several travel sites like Expedia. Bitcoin has also been discussed by many financial institutions around the world such as IMF head Christine Lagarde who discussed Bitcoin during an official speech at the London School of Economics. Also, Bitcoin was recently mentioned on the American television program The Good Wife where Bitcoin became a key topic throughout one of their episodes which involved Silk Road’s owner Ross Ulbricht’s legal team demanding to know if Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto is a real person or not. Bitcoin was also just recently mentioned in an international economic magazine Forbes as Bitcoin’s price continues to soar through the roof and more people continue to become interested in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin has seen its ups and downs with some websites like MT Gox closing their doors on Bitcoin users after attacks from hackers. This really hurt Bitcoin because it was one of the largest Bitcoin exchanges at one point before shutting down due to insolvency. Bitcoins value dropped drastically when this occurred but now Bitcoin is quickly making a comeback and becoming even more popular than ever, especially within the last year alone with its current price skyrocketing through the roof hitting all-time highs day after day which no doubt makes many investors very happy about buying Bitcoin when it was cheap and affordable. Bitcoin has truly seen monumental growth over the last few years, but is Bitcoin here to stay, or should Bitcoin be avoided?

Bitcoin has been getting a lot of attention from mainstream media over the past couple of years which has brought Bitcoin closer into the public eye more than ever before. Bitcoin is really giving gold a run for its money as Bitcoin’s value continues to rise exponentially day after day while many other countries worldwide continue to struggle with economic problems. This really makes people question what they should do with their money because there are traditional investments like stocks and bonds that may not fare well during troubled times while Bitcoin on the other hand will always have a value one way or so this makes it stand out from other currencies. Bitcoin is showing that it can compete with gold and other traditional investments while Bitcoin may be here to stay for the long run, only time will tell.

Conclusion

Bitcoin has seen tremendous growth ever since its creation back in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto who has continued to remain anonymous up until today which many people question if Bitcoin was created by a single individual or if there are multiple people behind Bitcoin’s creation just like they do when it comes to the US dollar having both public and private influences on its creation.

Bitcoin’s price continues to shoot through the roof hitting all-time highs day after day which have made many early adopters rich from their Bitcoin investments so far this year, especially within the last couple of months alone where Bitcoin has hit a new all-time high of over two thousand dollars per Bitcoin which Bitcoin has never seen that mark before in its entire history since Bitcoin’s creation back in 2009. Bitcoin is truly a worldwide phenomenon with Bitcoin being used for everyday purchases from food, to clothes, and even plane tickets. Bitcoin is really showing some great potential as more merchants continue to accept Bitcoin from all over the world where Bitcoin is truly a global currency.
