Schulte, Wilson, and Vann Win Seats on Katy ISD Board of Trustees

By George Slaughter Voters in the Katy Independent School District Tuesday elected Greg Schulte and Leah Wilson, and reelected Ashley Vann, to the Board of Trustees. Schulte, an engineer and project manager, defeated incumbent Bill Lacy for the Position 5 seat. Schulte received 63,125 votes, or 58.2 percent. Lacy received 45.428 votes, or 41.9 percent. Katy ISD School Board Postpones Election to November

By George Slaughter The Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees Monday night voted to postpone its school board election until November. The vote came in response to a COVID-19-related proclamation issued by Gov. Greg Abbott on March 18. In that proclamation, Abbott gave local jurisdictions with elections in May, such as the school district, the option of postponing those elections until November. By George Slaughter Katy Independent School District voters elected Donald “Duke” Keller and Lance Redmon to the Board of Trustees Saturday. Keller, an attorney, defeated Rebecca Fox and Sean Dolan to win his Position 1 seat. Fox, the Position 2 incumbent, decided just before the February 15 filing deadline to contest the Position 1 seat against Keller and Dolan, an Internet marketing company owner and Katy ISD critic.
