Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy. Each week has a different theme. The schedule for November is as follows:
The After-School Break -- crafts, stories, and more for school-aged children in grades 1 through 5 – will take place on Thursday, November 17, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, in the Meeting Room. The activity will be “Collaborative Art Day.” Students will work together as a group to create a masterpiece to be displayed in the library. Teens can earn volunteer-service hours by participating in FBCL’s Young Adult Advisory Councils, where they can express ideas, help organize upcoming activities, and suggest new programs and books that would be of interest to teens at the library. The December schedule of Young Adult Advisory Council meetings is as follows:
In addition to the Young Adult Advisory Council meetings, Fort Bend County Libraries will offer the following Young Adult (YA) book clubs and other programs for the teen community.
In this informal gathering, meet with other teens to talk about what everyone is reading, watching, listening to, or playing – and maybe discover a new favorite!
Those attending the book-club meeting in December are invited to talk about the YA novel Illuminae, written by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. This title is available in print and digitally as an e-audiobook and ebook on OverDrive; call the library to check availability of additional print copies. The activities are free and open to the public. Some of the activities require registration. 8:00 am: Abbreviated Schedule Of Children’s Programs At Cinco Ranch Branch Library In December8:00 am: Abbreviated Schedule Of Children’s Programs At Cinco Ranch Branch Library In December – Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library, 2620 Commercial Center Boulevard in Katy, presents a variety of free children’s programs – Family Story Time, Pajama Night Story Time, and After-School Breaks – every month. Because of holidays, the schedule of children’s programs will be abbreviated in December. Family Story Time takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning at 10:15 and 11:30 am, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy. The schedule of Family Story Time activities in December is as follows: December 1 – Dancy Party December 7 and 8 – Bedtime December 14 and 15 – Winter December 21, 22, 28, 29 – NO PROGRAMS Pajama Night Story Time – an evening alternative for families unable to attend during the day – will take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, from 6:00 to 6:30 pm. This program will NOT take place on December 20. The theme on December 6 will be “Bedtime.” “Kinder Korner: Winter Time” will take place on Wednesday, December 14, from 4:30 to 5:00 pm, in Meeting Room 2. Kinder Korner is a time for kindergartners to enjoy stories, movies, crafts, and other activities. “After-School Break” -- for students in grades 1 through 5 – will not take place in December.
