10:30 am: Children’s Programs At Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library Resume Fall Schedule After Break10:30 am: Children’s Programs At Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library Resume Fall Schedule After Break – Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library, 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear, will have an abbreviated schedule of free children’s programs in August. The fall schedule will start mid-August; no programs will take place during the first two weeks of the month. Starting the week of August 16, Family Story Time will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning at 10:30 am, in the Meeting Room of the library. Families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Each week has a different theme. The themes for the month are as follow: August 16 and 17 – School Rules August 23 and 24 – Staff Favorites August 30 and 31 -- Sheep Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy. Materials for these programs are made possible by the Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales and annual membership dues help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the library. Those attending should bring their own yarn, strings, and needles to start or finish a project, while chatting, networking, and enjoying the company of fellow needlecrafters. Samples of the library’s instructional books, magazines, and websites on various crafts will be available. The program, which meets on the 3rd Friday of every month, is free and open to the public. 2:00 pm: Learn Line-Dancing Basics At Mission Bend Branch Library2:00 pm: Learn Line-Dancing Basics At Mission Bend Branch Library – Library staff will demonstrate and teach basic steps of popular line dances that can be choreographed to different styles of music. No previous line-dance experience is necessary, and a partner is not needed. Dancers of all experience levels will learn (or review) some basic line-dance steps and terms. A few easy, beginner dances will be taught. Those attending the class are encouraged to wear smooth-soled shoes for dancing on carpet. Line dancing is a popular style of dance in which a partner is not needed. Dancers stand in lines or rows and do the steps together at the same time, with a leader for guidance. The program is free and open to the public.
