The miniature golf course is open to the public. Clubs and balls are available in the front lobby. Players must check in with staff at the front desk. Enjoy homegrown tomatoes, even if you live in an apartment or are unable to bend to pull weeds. Container gardening requires little land and little pre-gardening preparation or experience. Once the cylinders or containers are filled and planted, the only labor is minor maintenance, watering, and harvesting. 10:30 am: Abbreviated Children’s Program Schedule In May

In preparation for the Summer Reading Challenge, which begins May 29, Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library (8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear) will have an abbreviated schedule of children’s programs in May.

Family Story Time will take place during the first week ONLY. The children’s librarians will be preparing for the Summer Reading Challenge, which will begin May 29, for the rest of the month.

Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy.

Family Story Time will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 2 and 3, beginning at 10:30 am, in the Meeting Room of the library. The theme for the week is “Flowers.”

Building Club will take place on Thursday, May 4, beginning at 4:30 pm, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages will use LEGO®s and other materials to build the challenge of the month or something of their own design.

Materials for these programs are made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library.

NOTE: The Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library will be closing in anticipation of opening the new Fulshear Branch Library, located off Texas Heritage Parkway. For library services, visit other libraries nearby: George Memorial Library (1001 Golfview in Richmond), the Cinco Ranch Branch Library (2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy), or the Mission Bend Branch Library (8421 Addicks Clodine Road).

The schedule of youth activities will resume at the new location; date to be announced.

Road rage is aggressive or angry behavior exhibited by motorists. These behaviors include rude and verbal insults, physical threats, or dangerous driving methods targeted at other drivers, pedestrians, or cyclists in an effort to intimidate or release frustration. Reckless driving is driving with a willful or wanton disregard for safety or showing willful disregard of consequences when operating a vehicle. 12:30 pm: Hockley Community Center “Do Zabawy” Polish Festival

Come join us for our first Polish Festival. We will enjoy traditional Polish foods and music. Dr. Jim Mazurkiewicz, from Texas A&M University, will be giving a presentation on Polish Texas History, and will play traditional Polish folk music on his concertina. We are planning a "potluck" and encourage all participants to bring a Polish-inspired dish. 9:00 am: Friends Of Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library Host Spring Book Sale

The Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library will host a Spring Book Sale on Saturday, May 6, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, in the Annex next door to the library, which is located at 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear.

People who love books, people who love bargains, and people who need to get rid of some spare change will find a lot in common at the book sale, where they will discover adult and children’s books, DVDs, and CDs, all at prices that are hard to beat. Prices range from 10¢ for children’s books and 50¢ for adult paperback books up to $1.00 for select hardback books.

The Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library organization is instrumental in funding library programs such as the children’s Summer Reading Challenge. Proceeds from the book sale and annual membership dues also help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library.
