No cutting, gluing, or special equipment is needed for this simple craft project. The project is a fun way to re-use old books and give them a new purpose. Leticia Hardy, from the Texas AgriLife Extension Office, will talk about how to “dress to impress” for college-admission interviews and for scholarship interviews. Registration required. Teens can earn volunteer-service hours by participating in FBCL’s Young Adult Advisory Councils, where they can express ideas, help organize upcoming activities, and suggest new programs and books that would be of interest to teens at the library. The first book/movie to be discussed is Moxie, based on the book of the same title written by Jennifer Mathieu. The movie adaptation was released in 2021. Teens who have read the book and/or seen the movie are encouraged to join in a lively discussion. The book is available in print and digitally as an ebook on OverDrive; additional print copies of the book are available at the check-out desk. The activities are free and open to the public. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy. Family Story Time will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 2 and 3, beginning at 10:30 am, in the Meeting Room of the library. The theme for the week is “Flowers.” Building Club will take place on Thursday, May 4, beginning at 4:30 pm, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages will use LEGO®s and other materials to build the challenge of the month or something of their own design. Materials for these programs are made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library. Prices range from 10¢ for children’s books and 50¢ for adult paperback books up to $1.00 for select hardback books. The Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library organization is instrumental in funding library programs such as the children’s Summer Reading Challenge. Proceeds from the book sale and annual membership dues also help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library.
