Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library, 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear, presents free children’s programs every month.Family Story Time takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 10:30 to 11:00 am, in the Meeting Room of the library. Families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy.
Each week has a different theme. The schedule for January is as follows:
- January 3 and 4 – Snow Much Fun!
- January 10 and 11 – Let’s Get Cozy
- January 17 and 18 – Things That Pop
- January 24 and 25 – Opposites
- January 31 -- Space
After-School Breaks – crafts, movies, stories, and more for school-aged children in grades 1 through 5 – take place on the 1st and 3rd Thursday, from 4:30-5:00 pm, in the Meeting Room. Materials for these programs are made possible by the Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library. The schedule of activities is as follows:
- January 5– Building Club. Try out a LEGO building challenge, build a sand castle, or create a bot maze!
- January 19 – Indoor Sidewalk Chalk

- Public hearing on reinstatement in accordance with Article IV, Section 7, of the Home Rule Charter
Home Rule: The City Council met on January 10 to consider setting the date for the public hearing on reinstatement in accordance with Article IV, Section 7, of the Home Rule Charter, as requested by Rachael Crivelli.
Home Rule is granted by state constitution or state statute and allocates some autonomy to a local government if the local government accepts certain conditions. Home Rule implies that each level of government has a separate realm of authority.
The purpose of Home Rule is to allow for local solutions to local issues and problems. A municipality with home rule status can exercise any power and perform any function unless it is specifically prohibited from doing so by state law.
Texas is one of 46 states that has adopted Home Rule. A city may adopt Home Rule once their population exceeds 5,000 and the voters adopt a city charter. Cities with populations of 5,000 or less, are governed by general law only.

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library will have an E-Reader Question-and-Answer session on Monday, January 23, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear.The e-Reader Question and Answer session is a walk-in clinic during which patrons can bring their mobile reading devices and have their questions answered about using the device, downloading ebooks, or streaming movies. Learn how easy it is to check out free ebooks, e-audiobooks, music, and movies from the library’s online digital collections, OverDrive and Hoopla.
