CROCHETERS LEARN CREATIVE ART OF AMIGURUMI AT BOB LUTTS FULSHEAR/SIMONTON BRANCH LIBRARY

Jul 6, 2019

Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals or figures. In recent years, it has become an increasingly popular project for crafters around the world.

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library will have an introductory demonstration, “Crochet Workshop: Amigurumi,” on Saturday, July 6, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear.

In this hands-on adult craft class for individuals aged 16 and above, novices and experienced crafters alike can learn how to create these imaginative toys. Library staff member Marie Picon will demonstrate the simple stitch that is needed to crochet the small, stuffed figures in the Japanese pop-art-inspired style known as amigurumi. Learn the secrets to stitching perfect spheres and other shapes. Discover how a variety of characters can be made, including adorable tiny animals, people look-alikes, or colorful monsters.

No previous crochet experience is necessary.

Materials for the class will be provided thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library.

The demonstration is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. To register online at the Fort Bend County Libraries website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Events,” select “Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-633-4675, or by visiting the library.
