CINCO RANCH BRANCH LIBRARY HOSTS “FRIDAY FLICKS FOR TEENS & ADULTS”

Jul 26, 2019

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library will feature “Friday Flicks for Teens & Adults” on Fridays, July 12 and 26. The movies will begin at 1:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy. In keeping with the Summer Reading Challenge theme of “A Universe of Stories” and the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing, the library will show movies with space themes.

The movie to be shown on Friday, July 12, is an Academy Award-winning movie chronicles the true-life story of one of NASA’s finest – and darkest – hours in space flight. When pilot Jim Lovell uttered the simple, heart-stopping words, “Houston, we’ve got a problem,” mission control and the rest of the world would learn that something had gone terribly wrong. The film stars Ed Harris, Gary Sinise, Kevin Bacon, and Tom Hanks. This movie is rated PG.

The series continues on Friday, July 26. Released in 2018, this biopic portrays the life of legendary American astronaut Neil Armstrong (played by Ryan Gosling) and the rigorous training he went through to become the first man to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969. The film focuses on the period between 1961 and 1969, exploring the sacrifices and costs on the nation and on Armstrong himself. This movie is rated PG-13.

The movies are free and open to the public. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

The libraries’ licensing agreement for public showing of films prohibits them from releasing the name of the movie outside of the library.
