Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library, 2620 Commercial Center Boulevard in Katy, presents a variety of free children’s programs -- Family Story Time, Pajama Night Story Time, and After-School Breaks -- every month.
During Family Story Time and Pajama Night Story Time, families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy.

Stretches & Stories – for families with children of all ages -- will take place on Thursdays, February 9 and 23, from 4:30 to 5:00 pm; the themes will be “Forest” and “Desert.” Families will enjoy stories, participating in gentle yoga and dance, and learn calming breathing techniques. Families may bring yoga mats.
Family Game Night will take place on Monday, February 13, from 6:00 to 6:45 pm, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages are invited to play a variety of strategy and classic board games. Hear tips and tricks to help advance skill levels.
Family Build Night will take place on Monday, February 27, from 6:00 to 6:45 pm, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ageswill enjoy a fun-filled building challenge using LEGOs and other mixed materials during this free-play time.

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Adult Services staff at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library will present a free computer class, “MS Word: Intermediate,” for version 2016, on Tuesday, February 7, from 10:15 to 11:30 am, in the Computer Lab of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy.
This class is for people who already have a basic understanding of MS Word, but would like to master more advanced functions and tools in this word-processing software program.
Learn how to change the page color, insert pictures and word art, create numbered and bulleted lists, and add headers and footers.
The class is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. Cinco Ranch Branch Library Presents Intro To Legal Research

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library will present “An Introduction to Legal Research” on Wednesday, February 8, from 10:30 to 11:30 am, in the Computer Lab of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy.
Staff from Fort Bend County Libraries’ Willie Melton Law Library will introduce the basics of legal research. Learn about the difference between primary and secondary resources, and gain a better understanding of how to read legal citations.
This class will also explain where to find legal informational resources, both in print and online.

Mother Goose Time -- for pre-walking infants from age 1 month to 12 months – takes place on Tuesdays, from 10:15 to 10:45 am. This activity provides caregiver/infant multisensory circle-time activities -- including simple sign language, folksongs and lullabies, and finger plays -- that are especially designed to stimulate babies’ social, emotional, and physical development through rhythm and music. Attendance is limited and registration is required.
“Kinder Korner: Oh, No! Playdough!” will take place on Wednesday, February 8, from 4:30 to 5:00 pm. Kinder Korner is a time for kindergartners to enjoy stories, movies, crafts, and other activities. This month, students will make a mini cake out of playdough for their Valentine.
“After-School Break: Learn Something New in 2023” will take place on Wednesday, February 15, from 4:30 to 5:00 pm, in Meeting Room 2. This activity is for students in grades 1 through 5. Create a vision board for the library by imagining things to explore in the new year. Learn about different library resources to obtain those goals. Student drawings will be displayed on the Youth Services bulletin board.

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library, 2620 Commercial Center Boulevard in Katy, presents a variety of free children’s programs -- Family Story Time, Pajama Night Story Time, and After-School Breaks -- every month.
During Family Story Time and Pajama Night Story Time, families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy.
Family Story Time takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning at 10:15 and 11:30 am, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Pajama Night Story Time – an evening alternative for families unable to attend during the day – will take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, from 6:00 to 6:30 pm. Program dates are February 7 and 21, and the themes will be “Family” and “Dance Party.”
Stretches & Stories – for families with children of all ages -- will take place on Thursdays, February 9 and 23, from 4:30 to 5:00 pm; the themes will be “Forest” and “Desert.” Families will enjoy stories, participating in gentle yoga and dance, and learn calming breathing techniques. Families may bring yoga mats.
Family Game Night will take place on Monday, February 13, from 6:00 to 6:45 pm, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages are invited to play a variety of strategy and classic board games. Hear tips and tricks to help advance skill levels.
Family Build Night will take place on Monday, February 27, from 6:00 to 6:45 pm, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ageswill enjoy a fun-filled building challenge using LEGOs and other mixed materials during this free-play time.

The Central Fort Bend Chamber, Fort Bend Chamber and Greater Fort Bend EDC will present the 2023 Fort Bend County Day in Austin, Texas on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Along with the chambers, business leaders and owners, local elected officials, and citizens will travel to Austin to meet and hear from members of the state legislature as well as key state agencies to discuss the matters that are directly affecting Fort Bend County.
Fort Bend County Day’s mission is to increase the awareness among state legislators, legislative staff and agencies about Fort Bend County as the fastest growing county and largest community in the Houston metropolitan area. We hope to:
Share needs and issues of particular interest affecting Fort Bend County.
Educate and incorporate the local citizens regarding the legislative actions which affect the community.
Establish a positive working relationship with legislators, legislative staff and agency personnel.
The day will include transportation to Austin, sponsored by GFL Environmental, a photograph at the Capitol, recognition from the House and Senate floor, a presentation from Keynote Speaker Glenn Hamer, TAB President, a legislative panel during lunch at The Austin Club sponsored by ABHR and moderated by Trey Lary, a visit with legislators, and an evening cocktail reception at Stephen F. Austin Hotel with Fort Bend County Judge KP George and statewide delegation sponsored by TDECU. This event is sponsored by Memorial Hermann Sugar Land and Southwest Hospitals, Republic Services, and Wharton County Junior College.

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library, 2620 Commercial Center Boulevard in Katy, presents a variety of free children’s programs -- Family Story Time, Pajama Night Story Time, and After-School Breaks -- every month.
During Family Story Time and Pajama Night Story Time, families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy.
Family Story Time takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning at 10:15 and 11:30 am, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Stretches & Stories – for families with children of all ages -- will take place on Thursdays, February 9 and 23, from 4:30 to 5:00 pm; the themes will be “Forest” and “Desert.” Families will enjoy stories, participating in gentle yoga and dance, and learn calming breathing techniques. Families may bring yoga mats.
Family Game Night will take place on Monday, February 13, from 6:00 to 6:45 pm, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages are invited to play a variety of strategy and classic board games. Hear tips and tricks to help advance skill levels.
Family Build Night will take place on Monday, February 27, from 6:00 to 6:45 pm, in the Meeting Room. Families with children of all ageswill enjoy a fun-filled building challenge using LEGOs and other mixed materials during this free-play time.

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Mission Bend Branch Library will present a program on “Butterfly Gardening” on Saturday, February 25, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 8421 Addicks Clodine Road, in northeast Fort Bend County.
Fort Bend County Master Gardener Mary Parkhouse will talk about which plants attract different types of butterflies to gardens. She will also talk about five types of butterflies commonly found in this area, what they need to survive, and their preferred host and nectar plants.
Parkhouse became a Master Gardener in 2007 and has advanced training in entomology.

In addition to the family activities for all ages, the Cinco Ranch Branch Library also offers age-specific programs, with activities specially designed for different ages and stages of development.
Mother Goose Time -- for pre-walking infants from age 1 month to 12 months – takes place on Tuesdays, from 10:15 to 10:45 am. This activity provides caregiver/infant multisensory circle-time activities -- including simple sign language, folksongs and lullabies, and finger plays -- that are especially designed to stimulate babies’ social, emotional, and physical development through rhythm and music. Attendance is limited and registration is required.
“Kinder Korner: Oh, No! Playdough!” will take place on Wednesday, February 8, from 4:30 to 5:00 pm. Kinder Korner is a time for kindergartners to enjoy stories, movies, crafts, and other activities. This month, students will make a mini cake out of playdough for their Valentine.
“After-School Break: Learn Something New in 2023” will take place on Wednesday, February 15, from 4:30 to 5:00 pm, in Meeting Room 2. This activity is for students in grades 1 through 5. Create a vision board for the library by imagining things to explore in the new year. Learn about different library resources to obtain those goals. Student drawings will be displayed on the Youth Services bulletin board.
Creative Connections – activities for school-aged children in grades 4 through 8 – will take place on the 1st and 3rd Thursday, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. The schedule of activities is as follows:

Cinco Ranch Branch Library Hosts Workshop For Job-Hunters

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library will present a special workshop for job hunters -- “Job-Readiness Toolkit” -- on Tuesday, February 28, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, in the Multi-Purpose Room of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy.
Workforce Solutions’ Regional Facilitator Joshua Allmon will provide helpful tips for job hunters who would like to sharpen their job-hunting skills. Those attending this workshop will learn how to communicate more effectively by improving their applications, resumés, introductions, and interviewing skills.
This workshop is part of a series presented by Workforce Solutions. The next program in the series, “Sharpening Your Interviewing Skills,” will take place on Monday, March 20.
