Katy-Tompkins Football Game Postponed to November 27

By George Slaughter

Tonight’s Katy-Tompkins football game has been postponed following the disclosure of a COVID-19 case within the Katy football program.

The varsity game will take place at 11 a.m. on November 27 at Legacy Stadium. It was originally set for tonight, and initially pushed out to Saturday before being moved to next month.

In a statement, the district said the rescheduled game will provide its emergency management team time needed to conduct contact tracing and ensure student-athletes and staff are cleared to continue practicing and preparing for upcoming practices and competitions.

The district said tickets for the game originally scheduled for tonight will be honored at the rescheduled Week 10 competition.

Tompkins is 3-0 overall, 1-0 in District 19-6A play, after defeating Cinco Ranch 55-0 last week. Tompkins will play Taylor at 7:30 p.m. next Friday at Rhodes Stadium.

Katy is 3-0 overall, 1-0 in district, after defeating Seven Lakes 59-3 last week. Katy will play Mayde Creek at 6 p.m. next Thursday at Legacy Stadium.

Last season, Katy defeated Tompkins, 35-30, in a hard-fought game.
