Harris County Residents Should Act Now to Prepare for Laura (Tuesday, 10:00 a.m.)

Hurricane Laura has entered the Gulf of Mexico and models place the Texas coast in the storm’s path. Harris County residents near the coast should make preparations now to ensure the safety of life and property.
While tracks will likely continue to shift slightly over the next two days, residents should be ready to act on their hurricane plans within the next 24 hours. More information will be available throughout today. It is vital that all residents closely monitor trusted sources and follow the instructions of local officials.
The National Hurricane Center is forecasting that Laura will strengthen significantly prior to landfall early Thursday morning. This could mean a Category 3 hurricane or higher with impacts far from landfall.
