Katy Area Chamber adds new Vice President

KATY (For Immediate Release) — In support of its business-focused, community-oriented approach to operations, the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce announces Rick Ellis has assumed the role of Vice President.

“We are excited that Rick has joined the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce. His knowledge of the Katy community will help lead the Chamber in its next era of growth,” said Matthew Ferraro, Katy Area Chamber President/CEO. “His background and experience will be a great addition to the Chamber as we promote a healthy business climate, thriving communities and excellent quality of life in the Katy Area.”

In this new role, Ellis will be tasked with helping the Chamber’s efforts on strategic planning, leadership development and membership. “Rick has a long history of building relationships by working with businesses and communities in ways that produce a true win-win for all,” Ferraro said.

Prior to coming to the Chamber, Ellis most recently served almost three years as Vice President at the Katy Area Economic Development Council (EDC) where, among other things, he was integral in managing business recruitment initiatives through relationship building with local commercial real estate brokers, regional economic development allies, and corporate real estate and site selection consultants. Prior to his work with the Katy Area EDC, Ellis has led marketing, community relations and corporate partnership efforts at several organizations, including Buckner International, the Houston Zoo and the Greater Houston Partnership.

“I’m very excited to join Matthew and the Chamber team,” Ellis said, “as we continue to serve as a valuable resource by providing programs, creating opportunities and sharing information that greatly benefit Katy Area businesses and communities.

“The Katy Area is a great place,” Ellis said, “and we at the Katy Area Chamber are working hard to ensure it continues to thrive.”
