Russell Wilson – The Highest Paid Player in NFL 2019

Seattle Seahawks have tied down quarterback, Russell Wilson to a mouth-watering $35 million per year contract. Mark Rodgers, who is Wilson’s agent, has said that, “Russell’s goal and his hope was that he would continue his career with the Seahawks and continue to bring championships to this town. He believes there is still unfinished business and he is looking forward to pursuing that without having to worry about contracts and his future.”

Despite keeping one of the bets quarter backs in the game, punters aren’t rushing to back the Seahawks for success this term. In what is expected to be a fiercely competitive NFL season, punters seemed more aligned to backing favorites New England Patriots, as well as Kansas City Chiefs and LA Rams.

The NFL is one of the most backed markets in the betting calendar, especially the Super Bowl itself. Bookmakers around the globe are competing for punters business, with a wide array of bonuses being offered to entice bettors in. The Russell Wilson deal is significant for the Seahawks, and if you fancy an outside bet, then you can discover the bookmaker’s bonuses here, and make use of one of them to ensure you’re getting good value for money.

What makes Wilson’s deal even more staggering, is the signing on and guaranteed money figures. His contract extension in total is worth $140 million, which is the current highest in the NFL. Furthermore, his signing bonus is a staggering $65 million and his guaranteed money is a record breaking $107 m. The latter two figures are the highest to have ever been awarded in NFL history.

Whilst there was speculation around his future, the Seahawks had some time to play with – his previous deal had at least three more seasons left to run on it. Even if he played out 2019 under his current deal, Seattle could have used the franchise tag if needed to keep him under contract through 2020 and 2021 at reasonable prices by QB standards.

The superstar quarterback is coming off of arguably his best NFL season to-date last year – he threw a career-high 35 touchdowns. His brilliance in the pocket has seen him help his side to the playoffs in six of the last seven seasons – in fact, he’s never missed a game, despite playing through significant injuries to his shoulder, ankle and knee.

Will Wilson be a one-team man through his whole career? You wouldn’t bet against it.
