“Operation Freedom”

Katy, Texas, August 13th, 2019 – Human trafficking has turned into the most prolific criminal enterprise in the world, now on par, and projected to pass gunrunning and the drug trade.  Even today, with a rapid ascension in cases, a denial persists in suburban society that this horrific crime has infected America.

During the month of July 2019, the Fort Bend County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3, and the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office joined with the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance member law enforcement agencies in conducting “Operation Freedom”.  This operation spanned a three (3) week period within the geographical boundaries of Fort Bend County Precinct 3 and resulted in 64 arrests.  Charges filed over the course of this operation included promotion of prostitution, compelling prostitution, various narcotics charges, evading, fraud, forgery and failure to identify. More importantly, the rescue of at least five (5) adults and two (2) juveniles from sex trafficking.  Among those arrested included an active law enforcement officer and four (4) criminal gang members.

Fort Bend District Attorney Brian Middleton and Constable Wayne Thompson invite you to attend a press briefing regarding this recent operation.

The Press Conference will take place at Fort Bend County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3, on August 16th at 10:00am. The address is 22333 Grand Corner Drive, Suite 103 (Corner of Grand Parkway and Fort Bend Westpark Tollway), Katy, Texas 77494.  Press / Media can begin set up at 9:45 AM.
