Join the No. 1 School District in the Area for Back to School

KATY [August 13, 2019] –Looking for a great back to school story? Come join the Katy Independent School District, who was recently named by Niche, as the No. 1 Houston-area school district for 2020.  Join us this Wednesday, August 14, as we open two new schools and welcome back over 81,500 students and 10,000 staff members at 70 campuses.

Olga Leonard Elementary can be found in the northwest region of the district and will be opening its doors at 8:20 a.m. to welcome around 650 students.  The campus will also join other Katy ISD elementary schools in offering full-day Pre-K to eligible students.

Joe Adams Junior High is located in the developing area of Fulshear, Texas, in the Cross Creek Ranch subdivision.  In the future, the school will be a part of a double campus complex and neighbor the upcoming Katy ISD’s High School #9 in 2020.  Adams Junior High will house over 1,300 students, in its first year, and include an innovative learning environment with the latest cutting-edge educational technology.

To compile the ranking, Niche compares the most recent U.S. Department of Education data test scores, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, Niche user ratings, and a district grade based on seven categories with academics counting for fifty percent of the overall grade.
