OakBend Medical Center Reminds Everyone That The Last Sports Physical And Sudden Cardiac Death Screening Takes Place Saturday, July 13

Richmond, TX…OakBend Medical Center has completed two of its three scheduled sports physicals and sudden cardiac death screenings in the Fort Bend and Wharton area.

This Saturday, July 13 from 8am – Noon at the Williams Way location, 22003 SW Freeway, Richmond is the remaining sports physicals for this summer.  The cost is $20 cash.

Unlike many sports physical events, OakBend Medical Group doctors will be performing many of the tests and reviewing all test results on site.  Dr. Long Cao will be covering the cardiac portion of the testing which includes EKGs and echocardiograms to help prevent sudden death. Last year there were two students with potential problems that were found early.

Dr. David Wallace, sports medicine, will be performing physicals; Dr. Christine Nguyen, podiatrist, will do foot exams to make sure the students are wearing the proper shoes and Drs. Fred Speck and Enrique Pena-Garcia, orthopedics, will be there to address any issues that might be found with the students and to sign off on the exams.

No appointments is necessary, students will be seen in the order of arrival. Please show up with the student’s paperwork filled out to expedite the process. Students must be accompanied by an adult.

If you’d like to know more, cardiologist Dr. Long Cao has produced a video to explain why it is important for your student not to just have a sports physical but to also have an echo cardiogram to present Sudden Cardiac Death.
