Children’s July Schedule Of Activities At Cinco Ranch Branch Library

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library, 2620 Commercial Center Boulevard in Katy, presents a variety of free children’s programs — Mother Goose Time, Toddler Time, Story Time, Pajama Night Story Time, and School-Aged Programs — every month.  These programs are free and open to the public. The library is unable to accommodate daycares and school groups at these activities.

Mother Goose Time, which takes place on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m., provides caregiver/infant multisensory circle-time activities — including simple sign language, folksongs and lullabies, and finger plays — that are especially designed to stimulate babies’ social, emotional, and physical development through rhythm and music. Mother Goose Time is intended for infants from age 1 month to 12 months. Program dates are July 2, 9, 16, and 23; this activity will NOT take place on July 30.

Toddler Time — Wednesdays at 10:15 am, and Thursdays at 10:15 and 11:30 a.m. – is a structured program of caregiver/child activities, stories and songs for older babies, from 12 to 36 months of age. Program dates are July 3, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25; this activity will NOT take place on July 4 or 31.

Stories & Play – Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. — for children from 1 to 3 years of age. Children will be treated to a story and then have open play time. Program dates are July 2, 9, 16, and 23; this activity will NOT take place on July 30.

Pre-school children, 3 to 6 years of age, will enjoy Story Time, where they hear stories, watch movies, and participate in age-appropriate craft activities, beginning at 11:30 a.m. each Wednesday. Program dates are July 3, 10, 17, and 24; this activity will NOT take place on July 31.

Pajama Night Story Time — Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. — gives families an evening option for the activities presented during the daytime.  Program dates are July 2, 9, 16, and 23; this activity will NOT take place on July 30.

The School-Age Programs — crafts, movies, stories, and more for school-aged children entering grades 1 through 5 ONLY — begin at 2:00 and 3:00 pm every Wednesday during the summer. Seating is limited; free hand-stamps are required for admission, and are available one hour before the activity. These programs are made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. The July schedule is as follows:

July 3 – Astronomy (presented by Houston Museum of Natural Science). Learn about the Earth’s place in the solar system and how scientists study the universe.

July 10 – Motion Commotion (presented by Houston Museum of Natural Science). Find out how levers work, learn why every action has a reaction, and watch the relationship between mass and inertia as you discover the science behind motion in all its forms. Explore momentum, friction, and collisions in a unique demonstration of glider carts on an air track, showing how movement is affected by changing conditions.

July 17 – Maker Space. Enjoy a make-and-take craft during the summer break.

July 24 – Cartoons & Popcorn.

The Middle School Programs, which begin at 3:00 p.m. every Thursday in the summer, are designed for youth in grades 6 through 8. Materials for these programs are made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. The July schedule is as follows:

July 4 – LIBRARY CLOSED

July 11 – New Creations with Old CDs. Recycle old CDs into party coasters, wallflowers, locker decorations, and more! Personal photos are recommended for the locker-decoration craft.

July 18 – Pizza & Games

July 25 — Snacks & a Movie. Enjoy a movie based on a popular classic children’s science-fiction book written by Madeleine L’Engle. Released in 2018, the movie is rated PG.
