Katy ISD Appoints New Principal of High School #9

KATY May 28, 2019 – Katy ISD High School #9 has a new principal. During the May Board meeting, Trustees voted to name Dr. Ethan Crowell as the school’s new leader.  Dr. Crowell was previously the principal at Beckendorff Junior High but will now move to the newest Katy ISD high school, opening for the 2020-2021 school year.

“I’m honored and excited to begin this journey of opening Katy ISD’s newest high school.  My goal is to work together with staff, students and the community to continue to build the legacy of our district by focusing not only on academic success but also meeting the social and emotional needs of the student population,” said Dr. Crowell. “My number one priority is our students and ensuring they have the resources and support they need to succeed,” added Dr. Crowell.

Dr. Crowell began his educational career as a teacher and coach in 2008 for Pasadena ISD. He taught Spanish and coached soccer for a year and a half prior to transferring to Ft. Bend ISD as an Assistant Principal/Academy Coordinator for Clements High School. He held that position for 4 years before coming to Katy ISD. From 2014-2016, he was the Student Support Administrator at Morton Ranch High School, and in 2016, he was named Principal at Beckendorff Junior High School. Dr. Crowell holds a Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies from University of North Texas, a Master’s Degree in Humanities from the University of Texas at Arlington, and an Ed.D. in Professional Leadership from the University of Houston.

Dr. Crowell will join the High School #9 family starting the 2019-2020 school year and help prepare staff for the opening.
