WMCA Holds Flag Raising Ceremony in Community Park

On Saturday, April 27th the West Memorial Civic Association (WMCA) held a flag raising ceremony in its community park. The ceremony was attended by members of the American Legion Post 164 and Sons of the American Legion Squadron 164 as the Honor Guard who demonstrated and instructed us on how to properly raise and lower a flag.  As the flag was lowered members of the community watched as the old flag was folded and passed to board members in the appropriate manner. Girl Scout Troop 127098 and members of the West Memorial Tiger Shark Swim Team were present and recited The Pledge of Allegiance as well as The National Anthem. After the ceremony West Memorial Tiger Sharks served the attendees snow cones.

Harris County Sherriff Office Precinct 5 was present with officers as well as the Harris County ESD No. 48 Fire Department. The fire department brought one of their high water rescue vehicles onsite for patrons to inspect and sit in.

It was truly an honor for our community to be involved in this ceremony. Our presence expressed our deep gratitude and pride of our nation. View the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6EOlys3WDg&t=71s
