(Katy, Texas) – The Katy ISD Volunteer Celebration will be held in the Merrell Center on Friday, May 10th from 8:45-10:30 a.m.  Hosted by Partners in Education and the Volunteers in Public Schools Executive Board, this annual event honors the thousands of school district volunteers who donate their time and talents to our students and teachers.

This year’s guest speaker is the inspirational and musically gifted Aidan Thomas Anderson, 18 and co-founder of his charity, Aidan Cares, an organization that promotes the joy and necessity of giving to people.  Started as an organic movement and small donation to help African orphans, Aidan’s mission transpired into a 501(c)(3) that has brought Aidan and his cause national and international attention. Aidan has inspired youth from more than 30 countries to start their own giving initiatives.  His heart and passion is about showing all, especially kids from all economic backgrounds, the incredible impact you can have through serving others.

The VIPS Celebration will also include entertainment from McMeans Junior High, Tays Junior High, Paetow High School, Seven Lakes High School and Taylor High School performers along with the announcement of each school’s 2019 Volunteer of the Year.

All Katy ISD volunteers are invited to attend, and should RSVP no later than May 7th by visiting the “Community” page at www.katyisd.org and clicking “Partners in Education.”  Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. and the program will begin at 9:15.  For more information about the event, volunteers should contact their campus VIPS Liaison or tammyrstringer@katyisd.org
