Sens. Cruz, Risch, Menendez Introduce Resolution Supporting Canada’s Actions to Uphold the Rule of Law in Huawei Extradition

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, this week joined Sens. James Risch (R-Idaho), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), and Mitt Romney (R-Utah) in introducing a bipartisan Senate resolution commending Canada for beginning the process to extradite Huawei Technologies executive, Meng Wanzhou. Sen. Cruz immediately called for bringing Meng Wanzhou to justice when she was taken into custody by Canadian authorities, and has commended the Canadian government for advancing the extradition process. This week he expressed his concerns during a Senate Judiciary hearing on the need for the U.S. to address escalating threats of China against the U.S.

The full text of the resolution can be read here.

“I am proud to join my colleagues in this bipartisan effort, to ensure Meng Wanzhou is brought to justice for her crimes committed here in the U.S.,” Sen. Cruz said. “I applaud Canada for its actions and look forward to utilizing this opportunity to address through the U.S. judicial system the seriousness of the accusations that have been made against Meng.”
