WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) released the following statement after President Donald Trump’s announcement today about an agreement to fund the government for 3 weeks through February 15th:
“After 35 days of a partial government shutdown, an agreement has been reached to allow over 800,000 federal employees to get back to work or receive pay for work they have been doing. While this is an important step, it does not resolve the underlying issues that we still need to fully address. Over the next few weeks, Congress and the president MUST come together and find a permanent solution to secure our southern border. We have to stop hostile drug cartels, violent criminal gangs and abusive human traffickers from entering our country while keeping our government funded and operating. Failure is not an option.”
