Olson Works To Ensure Furloughed Employees Get Paid

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today cosponsored H.R. 67, the Federal Employee Retroactive Pay Fairness Act, ensuring federal employees and other government employees furloughed during a government shutdown receive their paychecks when the shutdown ends.

“Federal employees should not have to worry how they will afford to feed their families or keep a roof over their heads as Congress squabbles over funding the government,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “I cosponsored this common sense bill to provide furloughed employees with certainty that they will be paid every cent they are due when our government reopens. I have also requested to have my pay withheld for as long as the government remains shutdown in solidary with our federal employees.”

Rep. Olson also cosponsored H.J. Res 18 to prohibit Members of Congress from receiving their paychecks during a Government shutdown.
