Katy ISD Coach Joseph Receives Distinguished Honor

KATY [December 10, 2018] –  He’s been with Katy Independent School District for the past 36 years and is best known for his passion and dedication to the Katy High School Tigers Football team.  However, Coach Gary Joseph’s influence and devotion is not limited to athletes only.  His guidance has been embraced by thousands of students who attend Katy High School.  For this reason, it was no surprise when he was awarded the 2018 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Sponsor Excellence Award. The accolade was created to identify and recognize outstanding sponsors who assist students in developing and refining their extracurricular talents to the highest degree possible within the educational system.

“Coach Joseph was one of 15 people statewide to win this outstanding award. It’s great to see Coach Joseph receive this distinction for all that he does for the students at Katy High School,” said Executive Director of Athletics Debbie Decker.  This is a true reflection of his commitment and devotion to create future Katy ISD legacies,” added Decker.

Coach Joseph has made it a priority to know each and every football player on his team and daily emphasizes that excellence must begin in the classroom before it can succeed in the field.  He motivates his students to be more than ordinary and to thrive first to be the best with oneself before trying to defeat someone in any challenge.

As a winner of the award, Coach Joseph will receive a $1,000 check as well as a distinctive trophy.
