Katy, Taylor, and Tompkins Prepare for Area Playoffs

Katy, Taylor, and Tompkins continue their seasons in the area round of the Class 6A football playoffs this weekend.

Jersey Village (10-1) vs. Katy (10-1)

The Falcons face the Tigers at 1 p.m. Friday at Legacy Stadium.

The Falcons defeated Chavez, 56-12, in the bi-district round. The Tigers defeated Fort Bend Travis, 52-7, in coach Gary Joseph’s 200th victory as Katy head coach. Both teams have won 10 consecutive games after dropping their respective season openers.

The winner faces the winner of the North Shore-Dickinson game, which is set for Friday afternoon at Galena Park ISD Stadium.

Cypress Creek (6-5) vs. Taylor (6-5)

The Cougars face the Mustangs at 7 p.m. Friday at Legacy Stadium.

The Cougars have hit their stride, winning six of their last seven games after an 0-4 start. Last week they defeated Heights, 34-7, in the bi-district round. The Mustangs, under first-year coach Chad Simmons, are also 6-5, and defeated Fort Bend Dulles, 28-13.

The winner faces the winner of the Summer Creek-Clear Lake game, which is set for Saturday afternoon at NRG Stadium.

Tompkins (9-2) vs. Cypress Falls (9-2)

The Falcons meet the Eagles at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ken Pridgeon Stadium.

The Falcons last week defeated Fort Bend Elkins, 35-20, in the bi-district round. The Eagles defeated Westside 40-14.

The winner faces the winner of the West Brook-Strake Jesuit game, which is set for Friday at Clyde Abshier Stadium.
