Commissioner George P. Bush to tour Harris County flood mitigation project and discuss buyout plans

AUSTIN – Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 16, Commissioner George P. Bush will join the Harris County Flood Control District and Harris County Community Services Department for a bus tour of a comprehensive flood mitigation and buyout project. The tour will include a 160-acre site near Greens Road and I-45 which will conclude in the Glen Forest Detention Basin, one of three planned contiguous basins. Commissioner Bush will be available following the tour and briefing for a media availability.

During the tour, Commissioner Bush and his team will also receive a briefing on the project’s progress and discuss how the GLO and Harris County can continue working together in partnership to prevent future flooding. The Texas General Land Office serves as the state sponsor for Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding for long-term housing and infrastructure recovery.
