Cornyn Meets with William Nguyen, Houstonian Released from Vietnam

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) met today with William Nguyen, a Houston native held for more than a month by the Vietnamese Communist Party. Sen. Cornyn sent a letter advocating for Mr. Nguyen’s release. He received a trial the next day and was immediately deported to the U.S. In addition, Senator Cornyn introduced the Vietnam Human Rights Sanctions Act of 2017, which aims to impose sanctions on individuals who are complicit in human rights abuses committed against nationals of Vietnam or their family members.  Please see photo attached and below.
